Henry John Hawker emigration to NZ from Australia

Hi all,

I'm hoping some kind person with the resources can help me.

Henry John Hawker b. 1876 Ballarat East, Victoria, AUSTRALIA, emigrated at some stage to NZ, before he was tragically killed on the Somme, FRANCE on 5 June 1916 as a member of 4th New Zealand Rifle Brigade.

His father, Pearcival Hawker, of Ballarat is listed as his Next of Kin.  His occupation is listed as labourer.

I'd love to know when he arrived in NZ and if there is any paper trail of his life there.

Have a look on here, but most are just listed under Mr, so you may have to subtract his age to find a possible for Henry John!

There is a WW1 file at Wellington Archives for Henry,you could start a new thread requesting "Wellington Archives WW1 file digitised",these files once digitised are able to be viewed online.

Thanks Trish, nothing matches closer than 5 years.  I know ages on early shipping records are notoriously dodgy, but you'd think by that time, they would be fairly accurate. 
Maybe I'm misguided here

Yes,that's right Patricia,a kind chatter in Wellington wil go in and request it to be digitised

There is mention here that his name was put on the memorial wall in the Auckland War memorial Museum
