 Hi

Two Rhoda marriages in Durham  1940 to a Harrison
                                       or 1945 to a Barrett.
 Have these been checked

Ok we can rule out 1945 marriage(Barrett) that's been claimed to be a Rhoda Campbell b 1924 in Gateshead she dies in 2013 aged 89.
It could be the one you need is still alive so we have to be careful.
There is a Rhoda Harrison who dies in Durham north in 1998 year of birth listed as 1920 but could be two years out.

Yes, I have the birth details (mmn Norman). When I said b Durham I was referring to the county, not the city. Gateshead is in Durham too, so it could be either of them 2 years out.

Thanks for your efforts. Donīt want to fork out a tenner for the cert if I can help it. I canīt make head or tail of this lot. Rhodaīs parents were James Campbell & Henrietta Norman (my grandfatherīs sister). They married in Newcastle in 1898, but then vanish off the face of the earth. Henriettaīs niece told me before she died that it was a very stormy relationship. The couple moved to Gateshead soon after the marriage & Henrietta gave birth to about 10 children before she finally left home & went to live in a convent????
I have traced 4 children, all post 1918 but before that, not a sniff, not on the censuses or anywhere.I wondered if Jimmy went to war, but with such a common name, thereīs little hope of tracing him. Donīt know anything about him apart from his name.
Think I need to get the marriage cert.

This is a child of James and Henrietta's:

Jane Emma Campbell
Date of Registration:Oct-Nov-Dec 1904
Registration district:    Newcastle upon Tyne

Vol: 10b
Page:30

Using freebmd, and typing Campbell/Norman names, it will bring up five children registered in Easington, Durham.

James and Henrietta had at least eight children by 1924.
