Free Lookup for Ireland. (Dublin)
« on: Sunday 26 June 05 09:43 BST (UK) »
Hi Catherine,

I am trying to find information on my GREAT GRANDFATHER, REV SIMPSON GABRIEL MORRISON who was a PRESBYTERIAN minister in DUBLIN from the 1840s to his  retirement in 1881 and when he died.

I am very interested in who his family consisted of, as a very elderly cousin of mine said it was known that Simpson and his wife had 80 grandchildren, so he must have had a good number of children.

I would love to hear something positive from you,

Thank you in antisipation for your help.

Heppy

Three children of Simpson Gabriel Morrison & Catherine Hanbidge listed in IGI:
1. John Hanbidge, born 3 Aug.1874 Dublin
2. Benjamin, born 11 Aug.1878 Dublin
3. Catherine born 17 Aug.1876 Dublin

Have you tried writing to Abbey St. Presbyterian Church in Dublin to see if they have any information on Rev. Morrison or can suggest where to get more information?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi Catherine, What a kind offer, thank you.  I am trying to trace the death of my G.grandfather William Lawlor a shoemaker of 12 Stafford St Dublin.  I have just found the grave of his wife Mary (died 1925) in Glassnevin cemetery.  I found Mary's grave the day before I was due to fly back home so was unable to persue the search for Williams death/grave. I suspect he died after 1925.  William was not buried with his wife Mary as I have learned they did not own the grave.   Thank you.    Bridget x

Who would like to solve a Dublin mystery.??

I have  in my possession the only known photograph of our G.Grandparents. It is a wonderful, but very old picture showing them standing outside a very poor and run-down shoemakers shop.  The old shingle jutting out above the shop gives the information W. Lawlor shoemaker and shoe repairer. William is wearing a leather overall while Mary, his wife is dressed in long black skirts and White apron.  Judging from the state of the shop and above rooms I would say this property has long gone. My question is this, would a shop in such a sorry and poor state have been registered in any Dublin records?  I would love to find out where it once stood.  I suspect it was in north Dublin possibly in what was once Gt. Britain St, (now Parnell St) or Capel St.  Any suggestions, or better still, and budding Sherlock Holmes out there?  Thank you.  Bridget x

Hello there

First please may I wish you a very happy and healthy 2007.
.
My name is Lynne Beattie from Nottingham England and I have been trying to research my Irish roots for a very long time and getting it know where.

I feel as if I'm on a Merry Go round not feeling very merry though just dizzy around and around.

The only truly information that I have on my father is  his birth certificate and my grandparents marriage certificate.

My father William at Desmond Beatty born  26th March 1921 at number 63 Murtage road Dublin 4.

I also have an e-mail from  the parish priest at Aughrim Street saying we have an entry his marriage to a  Norah Gleeson in the Church of the Sacred Heart Donnybrook Dublin 4 26th June 1946.

I  have e-mailed the Sacred Heart Donnybrook but have not received any confirmation as of yet.

The information that I have for of my grandparent is a very little I'm afraid I didn't even know it then names until I got their marriage certificate.

They were married in the Church of Aughrim Street north Dublin on there 15th June 1917.

My grandfather was Eugene Lawrence Beatty it just gives his age as fall profession soldier second lieutenant address 27 Dartmouth road his father Michael Beattie occupation Clarke.

My grandmother Margaret Staines aged as fall address 63 Murtagh Road her father Edward Staines occupation Clarke.

I am going to send this e-mail to as many people as possible church organizations and hopefully people with the surnames involved in the hope of getting a connection or information no matter how small.

I am so desperate to find if there was children born to the marriage between William and Nora could have half brothers or half-sisters out there and not know( This saddens me immensely)

May I take this opportunity to thank you so very much for reading my e-mail  and  please  feel free to just a ignore it take care.

Kind regards
Lynne desperate for a connection.
