isaac wakeley born 1822 Shropshire
« on: Saturday 25 June 05 14:26 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have details of his family from 1822 onwards? I have him in 1881 married to sarah and still living at waxhill barracks where he was born! Any details of brother and sisters would be helpful, as well as details of his wife's maiden name. thank you

I am trying to find out if Enoch wakeley, born 1817 Lilleshall is related to Isaac wakeley born 1822 Waxhill Barracks.
Cn anyone throw any light on these two?

On the 1871 census Isaac gives his birthplace as Lilleshall born circa 1825. On the 1881 census Isaac's unmarried sister Sarah born circa 1820 was present. On the 1871 census Sarah born circa 1820 Lilleshall is living with her widowed father William born circa 1783 Lilleshall. On the 1861 census Sarah is with both parents (or possibly stepmother) William now born circa 1783 Eyton and Elizth. born circa 1803 Wrockwardine.
On the 1861 census 17 Wakeleys were born Lilleshall (3 female spouses) - Isaac is missing. The eldest is a William born Lilleshall circa 1804. There were obviously more in the surrounding area.
You probably need to request a search of the 1851 census.

Thank you - this is interesting - however, the enoch wakeley I am trying to trace was born in 1817 and he had a son enoch born in 1851 so I don't think that this enoch wakeley is the one I am looking  for - any more ideas??

From FreeBMD
Marriages Sep 1854
Pritchard  Elizabeth     Newport S  6a 1186
Wakeley  William     Newport S  6a 1186

This district covers Lilleshall.

Enoch was in Wrockwardine by 1851 (according to place and circa birthdate of first child on the 1861 census) so there is no reason to believe he would still have been in Lilleshall in 1841, when he would have been about 25.

I believe the original parish registers for Lilleshall have been microfiched from 1813 and can be purchased from the Shropshire FHS
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/SAL/SFHS/OrigPR.html
Searching them or obtaining Enoch's marriage certificate maybe the only way to prove a connection.

Just been through all the Enochs ever baptised in Shropshire as recorded on the IGI (827 of them! ???)

I thought I might come up with a weird spelling of the name that the Soundex system wasn't picking up but there's nothing like Wakeley except for the one in Lilleshall that's much too late.

This worked for my Attwoods (Hattwood & Hetwood were my missing ones) but sorry, not in your case.

I have actually got the Lilleshall PR's on order at my local LDS, should be here in about a week. let me know if you want me to check them out.

UPDATE - Sorry just checked and the film I've ordered only goes up to 1812.
