Unknown wedding to date
« on: Thursday 05 June 14 09:14 BST (UK) »
Hi, is anybody able to give me a rough date for this wedding? We don't really know whose it is, although there is an idea of someone it might be. Haven't found any evidence of him being married but a date for these photos could help a lot...
Thanks
Chris

My aunt who was married in 1942 wore a similar outfit. Hemlines are quite short which suggests Utility outfits.

There's no shortage of silk stockings, and there's plenty of material for baggy trousers, so not during the war in my opinion.

Agree during the War due to shorther hemlines.

The mens' suits could very well be from before the War. Silk stockings? People would pool resources to make day as special as they could. My aunt and her husband were married April 1942 in Taunton. If you can see this it is the first time I have managed to post a photograph!

Thanks for your help everyone. I'm no expert on fashion history but I'm pretty sure that hat is early/mid 1940s, and my nan also wore a similar outfit to her wedding in 1942. So I'm going to go with that for now as a vague start...
