William Mckenzie in Gairloch
« on: Thursday 05 June 14 19:19 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have a record of the marriage of William Mckenzie and Christy in Gairloch in (I guess) about 1838?
Any information about him and his parents would be gratefully received.
Thanks for reading.
Paul

On Scotlandspeople there is a marriage between a William McKenzie and Christian Cambell at Gairloch on 30th March 1837.
Hope this is helpful.

Thank you.
I don't suppose anyone knows anything about this William? I'm particularly keen to know who his parents were.

Hi

The marriage entry has William as from Melvaig and Christy from Altgrishan.

This might be them on the 1841 census for Gairloch:

Altgrishan
William McKenzie, 30, herd
Christy, 28
Murdo, 3
John, 2

Father might be a Murdo if they went by trad naming.

If he lived and died in Scotland, his death cert would give his parent's names.

This might be a possible for his baptism in Gairloch but the area was McKenzie territory so I can't say for certain - a death cert would be the best way of finding the info ~
