Seeking more information on Janet Wylie 1786- 1872, daughter of Janet Tayler and John Wylie.  Daughter  Janet( 1805-1875) married Alexander Ralston  in 1839. Can anyone give me more details about Janet's family. I can share details about daughter after marriage to Alexander Ralston, but would like to know more about the Wylies.  Thank you.  Donna

Hi. Just started to research my family tree when I came accross your message. I'm afraid I can't help with your search, but  I want to register my interest in the name Wylie. My Great grandmother was Ellen Wylie b.14/3/1844 at Mofside (could be mosside) which I believe was a farm near Stewarton. I have no details of her family or her life in Scotland. She came to Australia in the 1860's where she married in 1868. I have a full record of the family since this date but nothing before. I too would be interested in any more information on the Wylies. Regards, David

Hi David: The IGI has an Ellen Wylie 1840 Stewarton
Father:  Robert Wylie
  Mother:  Margaret Dunlop

Helen Wylie 1843, Stewarton
 Matthew Wylie  Family
  Mother:  Janet Lillias

I only mention because I have found that my ancestor's names and DOBs have changed  from one official document to another. I know these may not be yours but if you could finds census data for 1851, 1861, before they left you might have some success.  Try Freecen and see what you get.   Good Luck, and if I find out anything more concrete I will let you know.   Donna

I also have a Whylie in our family tree. I don't know whether this will help you or not, but my Jean Whylie, born in Stewarton, in c.1850, married James Kirkland, whose daughter, Sarah, married my ggggrandpa, ROBERT RODGER, in 1808. I would love to find out more about the Rodger side, or any connections.
Good luck with your research!!
