I had similar problems with my FTM and sent a message to Ancestry but got no reply however since then my FTM has started working OK.

In my desperation last week I did try to uninstall FTM through my windows control panel>programs & features. When I highlighted FTM in programs & features and pressed uninstall three options came up; modify, repair or uninstall. I pressed repair and it went through a "repair wizard" process and that was that, the FTM was still there with all my trees and just as slow and no connection but, within a few hours FTM was whizzing along very nicely so not sure if it was a coincidence or the repair wizard may have actually done some good.

Rootsweb Worldconnect isn't working for searches either,

I wonder if they are changing from free access & going to charge now ?

Just checked the e-mail share facility on ancestry and that is still down. Probably not a priority for them.
