Looking aor James Gorman, born 1850 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Parents unknown. Moved to Evansville, Indiana, married and raised children. I can not find his parents, although family history say his parents came from Ireland.

The family trees on Ancestry seem to be lacking in sources or have questionable sources, so it may be best to start with what you know and then work back from there.

If you know he was definitely in Evansville, then he appears to be on an obituary index with a death date in 1924 here - http://browning.evcpl.lib.in.us/

Yes, thank you. I have his death record. I just can't tie him to parents.

So I presume the death record has no parents listed?

Do you have a source that indicates he was specifically born in Cincinnati?

No. It indicated "unknown". The information was provided by his wife, so It seems strange. Likely they never met, but you would think she would know their names.

Hello and welcome from me too  :).

I was wondering if you have seen the full marriage/parish record of James' marriage? Their daughter Clara appears to have been baptized at Assumption Church in Evansville, if I remember correctly, and perhaps they were married in that church?

Regards
Polarbear

Edited to add: parents names may be included in the full parish record of the marriage.
