Hi JM - thanks for all the links and information.  I eventually found my man! who was born in Adelaide, a month after the ship arrived. I appreciated all the relevant information provided.

Now however i need to research the family's application to come to South Australia (from the UK) in
1839. I know the name of the ship now.  Can you advise me some links or web sites where I could start looking so I can obtain more details of their origins?

Hi there,

Perhaps the best place to ask that question would be here at RChat, but on the Australian Board.  Have you checked out the South Australia resources Board?

Here are the two links :

Australia board to start a new topic   http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?board=165.0

South Australia Resources board to check through before starting a new topic, in case there's links  there that will be of help
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=280572.0

And here's a great thread about how to request on the Australia Board.  There's plenty of RChatters with much better understanding than me for the South Australia searchings.

Fingers crossed

Cheers,  JM
