Hi,

Thanks for the heads up.  I've paid my pound but did not see where to not auto renew so if someone can point me in right direction so that I don't forget come the date.  They have also re activated some expired credits!

Thanks

Sandra

Thanks for the notification about this. I have used the voucher code and reactivated some credits too.

You can cancel auto renew by going to "My Account", your personal details, at the top of the page and if you scroll down you will come to the box for cancelling auto-renewal.

ALSO DON'T FORGET TO CLICK ON THE BLUE BOX BENEATH ENTITLED "UPDATE DETAILS" OTHERWISE THE CHANGE IN THE AUTO RENEWAL BOX WILL NOT BE ALTERED!!

Thanks Judy.  I have done both steps so that is something less for me to remember.  (I need all the help with things technical.)

Cheers

I dilly-dallied yesterday, but have now paid my £1 and reactivated 75 credits which had expired.

Having unexpired credits is probably a sign of how much I used the site though.  ;) Still, for £1 for a month's subscription, why wouldn't you sign up.  :)
I have remembered to untick autorenew and [Update].

Good PR by FindMyPast. Maybe it will get some new subscribers signed up, and with all those who have sworn off the site after their recent mess-ups, I think they're going to need them.  ;)

Thanks for letting us know about this offer Sandra.

JUDY

My Aunt took out a month's subscription (not one of the £1 offers as she missed that) and says, on my advice, she did remove the auto-renewal tick but was still charged for a second month.  FindMyPast have agreed to refund her the money as she didn't want to renew and said something like it must have been during the 7 day cooling off period.  Obviously I'm getting this info second hand but it's probably worth anyone not wanting to renew to check that they definitely haven't got the auto-renew box ticked AFTER the 7 day cooling off period.  It's possible she may not have clicked update but she's adamant she did remove it. ::) ::)

If FindMyPast's system isn't recognising the tick removal in the first 7 days, it's just going to cause them even more grief in light of complaints about the site.  I hope to be honest for everyone else's sake, it was my Aunt's mistake.  :-X

I've just been testing the auto renewal untick box and when I unticked mine and updated I received a confirmation email, if your aunt has received the same email in her inbox then that would prove she definitely updated her information. It might be worthwhile asking her to double check if shes on hotmail she should be able to view deleted emails if its not in her inbox, my email came through moments after I unticked auto renewal. I was just checking to see if it worked, I received the £1 offer email and haven't subscribed yet I was checking on here to make sure it was a genuine offer, I mainly want a few newspaper articles I have most of the other information on there but it works out cheaper than buying pay as you go credits.

I guess I will have to retick the auto renewal box now  before taking up the offer as no doubt FindMyPast won't let me use the £1 offer if I am not on auto renewal as they will know I have no intention of continuing subscribing.  Can you just clarify do I need to untick auto renewal within the 7 days after the £1 payment is made and not anytime in the month (23rd July).
