Completely stuck!
« on: Thursday 26 June 14 13:15 BST (UK) »
Hi there

I have been researching my family tree but can not get past my dad on his branch.

Long story but my parents divorced when I was about 5 and there has been no contact since. I am not in a position to speak to my mum about him and don't know his birthdate. I know he was 34 in 1979 and living in Salford and that his father had the same name after ordering my parents wedding certificate, but I don't know his date or place of birth and after looking I can't find him in Lancashire.
I just don't know where to look now and would appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance

Simone

You may find the names removed because these people could still be living and Rootschat doesn't allow living people  to be named...but there was a John W born in Manchester in June Q 1945 - the mother's maiden name is given on FreeBMD.org.uk.

Then there was a marriage of another John W to a woman with the mother's maiden name, also in June Q 1945 also in Manchester - also on Freebmd.  As the name suggests, Freebmd is free to search for birth, marriages and deaths, gives you the certificate numbers and would enable you to buy the certs.

I can't say whether these are your grandparents - I don't know what the W stood for in either case, but the certs may be worth buying?
Perrins - Manchester and Staffs
Honan - Manchester and Ireland
Hogg - Manchester 19 cent
Anderson - Newcastle mid 19 cent
Boullen - London then Carlisle then Manchester
Comer - Manchester and Galway

If you use
http://freebmd.org.uk
you will find a marriage in 1945 Manchester with possible Grandad's name on it :-\

Thanks for your replies (I've taken the names out thanks for pointing that out!)
I'll have a look at the things you have suggested.

Thanks again.
