I see these children all registered in Greenwich

Beatrice M  1918
Jane M  1920
Enid V 1923
H S 1924

These match to a tree with
George 1927
Lavinia 1932

two are private on the tree which may be the 1924 birth plus one other

H S 1924

The middle initial looks to be an 'E' rather than an 'S' on the original

H S 1924

The middle initial looks to be an 'E' rather than an 'S' on the original

Various ancestry trees list George as the son of John Thomas French and Emma Levinia Jones, BUT he was born 1888/9 not 1893.  He also would appear to have served in the Royal Navy before and during WW1.  John Thomas was a boiler fitter and Emma would appear to be his second wife.  They did have a son Henry Oliver French.  They did have children in Deptford, but John Thomas French was from Sheerness originally.

Do you know when George French died because it may be he was economical with the truth about his age on his marriage?

Otherwise, the trees are incorrect but, as Heywood has said, the problem is finding a George French with father John on the Census as I can't find one.

smudwhisk, you are on the right track, i have asked a member of the family about the jones, i know this is proberly going to make it complicated, but george french sighned up to the army as a jones due to being under age, i also know the sheerness connection is correct.

I saw the George Jones/French record earlier  :-\

John Thomas French and Emma Lavinia Jones married in 1883 so both would be parents to George.
He wouldn't be a child pre their marriage I mean.
