It could be either. Do you have anymore information?

IE anything written on the back of the photo. Shape of the ball if it is in the rest of the photo?

Cheers, Ted

A very confusing photo!

The Australian Rules competition in 1908 was the VFL, so I am confused by the reference to AFC?! ???

The shield, and the shirts, would seem to indicate the "Magpies" - better known as Collingwood?

Many thanks for such a quick response.

The player I am trying to identify played in NSW and VIC....just to confuse things...grrrrrrrr  :)

He is also in another photo with the Balmain FC.

The ball is typical oval VFL type looking ball.

Not to sure about the crow and yes it might be Collingwood.

Steve

I'm an idiot. I have just found the scroll bar to see the other half of the photo. Im blaming the new computer not the computer operator.  ;)

If it is Collingwood in Victoria they were not premiers in 1908 Carlton was. However, Collingwood won in 1903.

It could be a regional team though. Many are Magpies and wear the Collingwood stripes.

If you google Collingwood VFL 1903 you will see the jumpers are a different design. They had collars and laceup fronts

I'm still puzzled over "AFC"?

Just what could that refer to?

There was no national, Australian, football competition in 1908, and those competitions that were in existence were almost all called ". . .  League".

I wonder if A.F.C. is the initials of the the football club.

i.e. Carlton's symbol is CFC as in Carlton Football Club.

So could AFC be "Albury" (just and example) Football Club.
