McTier St Belfast
« on: Thursday 03 July 14 11:01 BST (UK) »
Greetings! Can anyone help me find McTier St Belfast? I've searched all the online maps without success. I suspect it is/was in the Shankill area??
Many thanks in advance.
Cheers
Steve

If you search the Belfast Street Directory for 1900 on PRONI's website you will find McTier Street running from Shankill Road to Conlon Street:

It's all been long redeveloped.

On a modern map (eg. google maps), if you find Shankill Parade at its junction with Shankill Road, the bit of Shankill Parade heading north is in a similar alignment to where McTier Street was (give or take some yards).  It was parallel to Malvern Street to the west and North Boundary Street to the east (but closer to Malvern Street).

If you need more specific information I can pm you.

I know this is an old chat but hoping someone here can tell me where Sixth Street, Belfast used to be? I am doing some family research and keep finding people on this road but can't locate it on maps. TIA!  :)

Using the link glensman posted, you can see Sixth St as between North Howard St to Conway St
https://streetdirectories.proni.gov.uk/media/x8F1kvxoAmyxtlNdMw6kIg..a?ts=uxxVTX2hKfeTBXA2I80gHw..a

Use the Historical Mapviewer
https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/services/search-proni-historical-maps-viewer
and search for Fifth St then using the layer list option choose any of the OSNI Historical maps and you can see Sixth St just above the present day Fifth St.
