Jonathan Steel. Born 1841 Park Broom

My ancestor Jonathan Steel was born in 1841 in Park Broom to Joseph and Ann Steel. He appears on the 1841, 1851 and 1861 census.

However, I do not know whom his wife or when he died, I cannot seem to find either a marriage or death and he isn't on the 1871 census, at least from what I have found. Any help will be appreciated

The registration district ties in with that of the 1861.

The 1861 census states him as single, however the marriage takes place several months later, so it likely is him

You would need to purchase the marriage cert as it would appear that Jonathan died in 1862 and therefore a census cannot help to find who his spouse was

Assuming the widow did not remarry it might be worth looking in 1871 - or for a Margaret or Mary Smith marriage.

Did he marry Mary Kirkbride or Margaret Frazer?

In view of the fact that there are KIRKBRIDEs living in the same house as Jonathan in 1851 (John K from Dearham) ... 1851 shows that John K had a sister Mary (7 in 1851) who was a servant in Greysouthen in 1861, just a couple of miles from Great Clifton.  That would be my choice.
