I did. But the fine print on the 'free Australian' page says just what I quoted ... and the intention appears clear. I'd rather not tempt fate and try it. I am certain there be other offers given time.

Ive had a quick look at the Australian records but didn't find them very informative.Wantedto check a marriage partner .....found the marriage and date but no spouse.Maybe it's better to look at each individual state.
What do people think of the Ancestry au site. I did find the incoming passenger list useful

Hi Ringrose,
   I've found it quite useful as it spans states.  So many of my ancestors (surprisingly) flitted between States eg from WA to Victoria with 13 kids in tow and back again.

   There are some mistakes. ... And the marriage you mention sounds like one.  Best to ask rootschatters for more info.  I joined ancestry before I knew about rootschat

   And ancestry is behaving strangely at the moment ... Maybe overwhelmed by every man and his dog and budgie    trying to get the free days search.
