John Brown and Sarah Bradley
« on: Sunday 13 July 14 17:53 BST (UK) »
Hi!
Can anyone help with the following?

I have a John Brown, Blacksmith of Cockfield Durham, died October 28th, buried October 31st 1811 Cockfield, age 85 years old (Widower).

Johns wife Sarah Brown (late Bradley) died September 28th, buried September 30th 1809 at Cockfield, age 87.

I have a John Brown marrying a Sarah Bradley on 19th June 1753 at Hamsterley and they had the following children:

Sarah Brown baptised 28 April 1754 Hamsterley

George Brown baptised 23 May 1756 Hamsterley

John Brown baptised 27 May 1764 Hamsterley

??Rachel Brown baptised 3 August 1766 Cockfield (Familysearch says parents John and Sarah, Church records give parents as John and Jane?).

Going off the apparent ages for the burials of John and Sarah, I can only find a Sarah Bradley baptised at Hamsterley on 7 June 1730, which would make her about 8 for her baptism(?), daughter of a Michael Bradley.

A Michael Bradley married a Mary Scott on 13 May 1718 at Gainford and had:

John Bradley baptised 13 April 1719 Gainford

Robert Bradley baptised 13 November 1720 Gainford

Thomas Bradley baptised 18 May 1725 Hamsterley

Michael Bradley baptised 24 September 1727 Hamsterley

Sarah Bradley baptised 7 June 1730 Hamsterley

Can anyone help with Mary Scotts birth or parents? The only other Scott marriage I can find at the time at Gainford is that of a John Scott to Anne Richardson on 3 May 1724.

A Cuthbert Brown married on 25 May 1722 at Hamsterley a Mary Teasdall (Teasdale?) and had three children, one of whom could possibly be John?

Elizabeth Brown baptised 13 Jun1723 Hamstrley

Sarah Brown baptised 5 or 18 April 1725 Hamsterley

John Brown baptised 15 December 1726 Hamsterley

Mary Teasdale could be the Mary Tesdell baptised on 27 May 1702 at Hamsterley, daughter of a John Tesdell and Mary Dobson (another daughter Ann Tesdell baptised 17 May 1699, Hamsterley).

Any help much appreciated! :D

Closest I could find is Mary Scott Baptised 20th August 1699 Dalton-Le-Dale, Father: Thomas, although there are a few in Northumberland and towards the Scottish borders.

MORGAN: Glamorgan, Durham, Ohio. DAVIS/DAVIES/DAVID: Glamorgan, Ohio.  GIBSON: Leicestershire, Durham, North Yorkshire.  RAIN/RAINE: Cumberland.  TAYLOR: North Yorks. BOURDAS: North Yorks. JEFFREYS: Worcestershire & Northumberland. FORBES: Berwickshire, CHEESMOND: Durham/Northumberland. WINTER: Durham/Northumberland. SNOWBALL: Durham.

It's possible that Sarah Bradley had been married before as she was around 31 years old when she married John Brown. I think it's unlikely to be the one in Hamsterley as there are siblings baptised in 1725 and 1727, if this Sarah were born in 1722 why baptise two others in her lifetime and wait until she is 8??
