The Will of my GGGrandfather James Illingworth
« on: Thursday 17 July 14 15:54 BST (UK) »
Hello to all,
The Will of James, my GGGrandfather, is very difficult to decipher. Some of the meaning can be gleaned but I would love to capture the full context. Any help in that regard would be most appreciated.

Thank you

Hello phillipsearching,
Thank you so much for your efforts in making James' Will a little clearer. I know what you mean when you say your eyes were going fuzzy. It is a tough one as the writing is not very clear. Great work, maybe someone else will also will give it a go.

Regards

Maybe if you transcribe what you can and put it on here with the words you can't read.  You are likely to get more people to respond that way.

Try a bit at a time  :)

Norway Place, Commercial Road, in the parish of Saint X ----

I agree with the above. Actually I don't think this is too difficult to read at all. However, it's a large segment which can't be seen on the screen all at once; and when you open the reply box (as I have done to type this), you lose sight of the attachment. Therefore the only way I can see to transcribe this in one go would be to have two windows open, scrolling backwards and forwards, for what is quite a large document; and this is going to take a bit of time.

Point us in the direction of specific words and we'll be on it like a greyhound to a rabbit!

Yes, sorry!

Really we need to be able to see all the document whilst transcribing it - see how easy it is for errors to creepin  ::)
