What information is on his marriage certificate?
Is he a widower?

Are there occupations for him and his father?

Welcome to Rootschat!

I am going to assume that you got his birth date off his death cert.  Just bear in mind that the information on death certs is only as accurate as the knowledge of the person who supplied the info, so you might want to be looking at years around 1884 too.

Also, I think you should probably remove the names of the children of the Meaney/Ratcliffe marriage, just in case they are still alive.  :)

Looking at the electoral rolls for Hammersmith between 1934 and 1943, there is a Patrick Joseph Meaney and Doris Theresa Meaney living on Rayleigh Road, starting off at number 82 and then moving to 102 in 1936.

Thank you for the welcome and all the prompt responses!

The reason I am trying to determine his life for the period of 1885 - 1930 is as follows -

I came across the following posting on Ancestry.com -

Hello all

Is anyone able to trace a marriage for me between 1958~1965 of a Terence Meaney who is/was my mums brother in
the surrey or possilbly the london areas/

Also if you may be able to check to see if he has died after this time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated....regards John

Terrence was my father and looking at records, his sister Patrica D M Meaney passed shortly after birth.

Terence had no other sisters that I can find.

The person that posted the message has several postings on ancestry.com and from what I can gather his name is John Kavanagh. Though I know that this could be a false name. But as he asked for myself and my sister specifically I am curious as to who he is.

However, I am unable to establish a link between the Meaney's and the Kavanghs.

The only additional clue that I have is the following posting:

"By the way my mother was born in Foam Lake Saskatchewan, Canada in 1916"

The full thread is at:

Looking at the marriage record, Patrick was married in 1930. He was 46 at the time.

What I am trying verify is was he previously married and did he have any kids which would explain the posting by John Kavanagh.

I hope I have been clear in my explanation  :)

Spidermonkey: Thanks for the advice. I know for certain that 3 of the children have definitely passed. Raymond S Meaney is the person I am not sure of.

Though is the next person I want to explore as I do not know much about him.

All I have is the birth record, but that is where the trail ends.

I was told as a child that he left the UK and moved to the States (Palo Alto to be exact).

The only other piece of information I have is that he changed his name to -

Firstname: Raymond or Ray

Surname: Snowden or Snowdon

I would be grateful for any information in regards to him as well

gortonboy: According to census records it says he was born in Ireland

heywood: I don't actually have the marriage certificate. I have only seen the record. Maybe obtaining the actual certificate is what I need to do next?
