wagner / Waggener from germany to new zealand

Hi, can anyone help me find information on this family. This is what I have found.
Frederick Conrad Wagner born abt 1837 in Hanover, Germany (occupation quarryman), his father may have been Charles.
married Johanna Fredericka Sauder/Lauder.  She was born abt 1832.  They had one daughter that I know of Carolina/Caroline Henrietta Wagner born 1862 in Salzgitter, hanover.  they emigrated on the ship 'Palmerston' in 1872 leaving from Hamburg 28 July arriving in new zealand dec 16.
I would love to know why they left Germany and more about the families they left behind.

If any of your Wagner rellies came to Australia a lot of Germans liked Queensland including the Darling Downs areas including Toowoomba,Marburg Qld....anyways I don't know if you're related but there are Wagners in Toowoomba Queensland and the are in the Quarry business etc they are a very successful and well known here in Toowoomba they might be related to you?.
