You could go through the files on FindMyPast and Ancestry and note down the various dates and places. He seems to have got himself into a fair amount of trouble both with the army and with the civil authorities so there are lots of notes made.

My reading of the top of the page you posted is:

Home Service (which includes Ireland) 6 86 to 10 88  2 years 103 days
East Indies 10 88 to  8 1 90 1 year 88 days
XXXXX  8 1 90 to YYYY  ? years 345 days
XXXXXX   6 12 ?

He was back in UK by June 93 when he was transferred to the Reserve.

I think the third item must be Home service again - the battalion is in barracks in Kent in the 1891 census.

Thats great getting some of the dates from the doc cheers.I do have his records from ancestry but not find my past.He was a bit of a bad lad at times but as he got older he calmed down and by the time of ww1 he went in the DLI and had a good record but in 1917 was discharged as he was over age. This is him on pic

Fourth Class education certificate was only in use from 1871 to 1888. It was equivalent to the standard of an 8 year old today.

East Indies included Aden to Burma.

It was the 1st Battalion in Dover for the 1891 census
