GEORGE SYMINGTON LINDSAY/MARY CAMPBELL
« on: Wednesday 30 July 14 10:03 BST (UK) »
George and Mary married in Castle Douglas, Scotland in 1882, moved to Govan in Glasgow,
and appears they then moved to Barking before 1901. James, David, George, Robert and Polly were
there children.
Would anyone have any knowledge of this family.

Hi
What sort of information are you looking for? Going further back, or tracing the "children" towards the present day?  If these are direct ancestors, then that means you must know more about one child! What other info do you already have (eg 1891 census? Birth years and places of all)
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Hi
I'm not sure what you're really after.I haven't got them in my family but had a quick look and can give you the censuses for George and his baptism Minnigaff Kirkcudbrightshire  2 March 1860 to David Lindsay and Mary Kelly.
1871 Culnsightry Cothouse Rerrick
David Lindsay 36 ag lab Kirkcoan /Kirkcowan Wigtownshire
Mary 39 Parton Kirkcudbrightshire
James Douglas Lindsay 14
George Symington Lindsay 10
Ellen 6
David 4
Daniel 70 visitor Kirkcudbrightshire.(probably his father baptism David Lindsay 14.6.1834 to Daniel Lindsay and Isabella Vinie))

There is a older sister Joanne age 4 on the 1861 born Penninghame, Wigtown and her father is a ploughman.

By 1911 George has died and Mary and the rest of the children except George junior are in Barking.
I'm presuming he's the George Lindsay died Romford Dec 1909 age 49 4a 268.
Does that help?
Ciderdrinker

ps Mary looks like the Mary Jane Campbell baptised Corsock Bridge to William Campbell and Margaret Prentice 4.1.1858.But not absolutely sure.

lizdb and ciderdrinker thanks for your replies. George's parents died in 1872 and 1877 and wondered what became of the children. George is the only one i found a lead on so was hoping i might find someone researching same.
Did'nt have james douglas so will give him a try and see if i can get any leads.
George's aunt married a douglas so probably got the name from her.

Being Barking born and bred - I now live in Hornchurch - I have many of my family buried in Barking Rippleside cemetery, I have had a look at my cemetery records and very close to my grandparents are
George Symington Lindsay buried 24/12/1909 aged 49
Mary Lindsay buried 20/07/1918 aged 57
David Lindsay buried 03/07/1926 aged 41
All buried together in grave E 1479
Next time I go I will see if there is a headstone.
I knew Coverdale Road very well it was close to where I used to live, I hope to go to the Barking archives soon to winkle out one of mine so I will have a look for yours.

Edit: meant to say Barking - up to the 1980's was 100% Essex, us Essex boys and girls were well miffed when the boundary's got moved lol

Hi
I have been to the Barking archives and found that the electoral roles did not start before 1900 but in 1901 the family were living at 72,
