I'm wondering if anybody can decipher this signature. This has beaten me.

Thanks,

Hi Nick, I love a challenge but this one has beaten me too  :-\  I keep squinting at it but nothing is jumping out at me apart from double L towards the end.  Will keep squinting  ;D

Hi Jool,

This is a difficult one - I,ve spent hours with this. He was born in Kilsby, Northants in 1887, so the name should be of English origin. I've been through BMD's, census etc, but can find nothing like this.
Thanks for your reply.

Thankyou Flattybasher for the enlargement

Thanks Jan - Ostle it could be - it does'nt tally with the birthplace, but then that could be wrong.

Sorry I'm puzzled - if you don't know his name how do you know when and where he was born (or even that it is a he) ???

Jan ;)

By the way Ostle/Osslle  seems to hail mainly from the north west of England
