I can't find any information at this stage to back up the claim that Ellen's parents died in Dandenong, or indeed in Victoria.

Hi

I have found the family on the 1901 census. The parents had a daughter Ellen Berriman Phillips (born 1900 died Feb. 1901)  that died just before this census, her baptism is the same address.  Perhaps the parents died in New Zealand.

St Ives : Street an Garrow

Well found C of L re the death of Enid.   :D

She travelled out here with husband David in 1960 on board the Orontes, destination Melbourne. Last address given as c/o the Guildhall, St Ives, Cornwall. David's occupation listed as clerical worker.

In the last available census Joseph Henry Phillips (junior) is living with his Grandfather William PERKIN in St Ives. No sign of Ellen or her parents  :-\

Hi

Found this death age a year or so out but could be the mother

Anne T Phillips died Sept. Qtr. 1964 Penzance aged 86
Vol. 7a
Page. 94.

Too many possibles for the father in Cornwall to be certain.

Hi everyone

Thank you so much for all your help!!!

So I now have a few things to work out:

- when did Ellen B and David G move out to Australia
- did David G and his wife have any children, and did they move out to Aus at the same time as his parents
- what happened to Ellen B's parents post-1901 census
- what happened to Joseph Henry Jr post 1911

I have been trying to find out more about this branch of the family for years (very little is known about them beyond the details we have about my great grandmother, Emma Jane [Joseph Henry Sr's sister].

Thanks again everyone :)

Thank you so much for all your help!!!

So I now have a few things to work out:

- when did Ellen B and David G move out to Australia
Probably between 1969 and 1970 as mentioned in message #3.
The only way to be sure would be to apply to the National Archives of Australia to have the record opened and digitised. It may however not be approved at this stage. Cost should be quite reasonable.

- did David G and his wife have any children, and did they move out to Aus at the same time as his parents
They would most likely be living people so can't be answered on this forum.

- what happened to Ellen B's parents post-1901 census

- what happened to Joseph Henry Jr post 1911

Thanks again everyone :)

Hope that is of some help, Bramble.
