Please identify what photo' depicts.

I found this photo' amongst others belonging to my Grandad, Walter Pearson, who was born in 1893, I would be grateful  if anyone could date and inform me of what is happening in the picture.

Cannot see clearly enough to define,   but maybe building something?

Well maybe if you knew what kind of work your grandad was into, whereabouts he was etc... it could be railway building.. or road clearing  ?? or  farming of some kind - sorry cant help

Hi Dee....Could you rescan the photo at a resolution of 300dpi and that would hopefully bring out more detail.

It might be panning for gold.  The part of the image I've highlighted might be whats referred to as a Rockerbox or Cradle.
