The Acorn pub YORK

I haven't researched this as yet but I am told that around early 1900 my ancestors ran the Acorn pub in Mickelgate York.

Was there such a pub?

How can I find publican's names?

I've never been to York and am not familiar with the area, being from down south so any helpful tips, starting points, etc would be welcome.

      listing for Backhouse, James Cattle, Acorn P.H., 9 St Martin's Lane,
         Mickelgate...

Hi,

Just to let you know The Acorn is still present in York, just off Micklegate in St Martin's Lane.

Great pub - serves a good range of Real Ales, and has not been spoiled by trying to be trendy.

The 1901 Census would show the name of the Publican at that time.

the acorn pub st martins lane york very firstr pub i ever went into  in the late 1950's brought back happy memories was such a friendly   small very very old pub, its stilthere  but more up market of course .
