Ellen Louisa George
« on: Tuesday 12 August 14 09:36 BST (UK) »
Good morning
I have Ellen Louisa George b1876 Wittersham, Kent in my tree. (Parents Edward George and Louisa Addy)  I have 1881, 1891 and 1901 census for her.  I "googled" and found a possible husband - Thomas Gillespie and possible son Geoffrey Gillespie but....silly me.....didn't make a note of where I found this information.

I cannot find 1911 census, when/where Ellen married Thomas, Thomas date of birth (I believe he was born in Scotland) or Geoffrey's date/place of birth etc.

I have found Ellen's death in 1952 Folkestone as Ellen Louisa Gillespie.

Any help to unravel this would be much appreciated.

thanks Jo - so much information in such a short time.  Brilliant!

It looks as if there is another son then... James so I am assuming both he and Geoffrey were born in India.

I wonder when and where Thomas died.

Thank you so much for your help.

Geoffrey Gillespie was my grandfather, Ellen Louisa and Thomas were my great grandparents. Thomas died in WWI 14 March 1917, he is remembered with honour on the Basra memorial. I am afraid Geoffrey's siblings died too as children (life expectancy was short in India for children at the time). I was aware of Mary Ellen but James is new to me.  Geoffrey had a great life, did well at school and lived in Asia where he met my grandmother. He was quite a sportsman and had a pilot's licence. He is remembered fondly by his 3 children and 3 grandchildren.  Thanks so much for finding all this amazing information.
