I wonder whether Mary Jane Gay is the Mary J G Coenen who married Harold A R Lear, Sep qtr 1926 Surrey?

Harold Arthur Richard Lear of East Molesey died in 1946.  Administratrix was widow Mary Jane Gay Lear.

Her possible death as Mary Jane G Lear, Sep qtr 1981 Hastings.  DOB 6 Jan 1895.

9th May 1916 is a great find!
My first question would be: Are there documents of the foster home?

I think she is born in Europe,
may be in the Ypres area.
With the name Mary she might be Catholic,
her christian name might be Dutch and transferred into English: Viooltje, Violetta or else ...

There are excellent databases of Belgian or Dutch archives, but she might be enterred in 2017 or 2027 ...

Good luck
Rudolf

Here is mentioned that Limburg was Roman Catholic:
https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hertogdom_Limburg

Death:
Mar 1916: Cornelis J Coenen, 20 years - too young to be father? (Cornelis looks to be Dutch)
Jun 1917: Alfred    Coenen, 25 years

Dec 1918: Elizabeth, 0 years

Also checked:
Births Mar 1916:      Cohen, Violet M -  mother:    Parrish
Marriages Dec 1933: Cohen, Violet M - spouse: Caggett

NB: Not helpful in this case, but just have a look:

There is a 1927 marriage in Fulham district for Mary G Nowell to an Alfred Griffin.
However, there's no obvious death for George Henry Nowell, her husband, by 1901, and I think (free index only) that Alfred Griffin, Mary Griffin, and a Samuel Alfred George Nowell are living together by the 1911 census (in London).

I cannot see daughter Mary living with them.

 :-\ that's a pity.

However, Violet and Nellie are linked by an address so hopefully are linked by family. Additionally, Nellie married in Cambridge - another link/ coincidence.  It would be worth Chris getting the birth certificate for Nellie to see what information is there.
