I currently live in creraig. (Ya got to love the internet some times). It is currently a croft that my mother purchased from the family following the death of a man called Bert. We moved here in in 1989
Tom.
When I was a little girl in Inverness, my Mum and I used to visit a lady in 56a Ballifeary Road.
My Mum always called her Mrs Gair.
Mrs Gair died on 05 May 1967, and some months later, my husband and I were given the opportunity to rent 56a Ballifeary Road from a family called MacMillan, who my mother said were cousins of ours. We were still living there when my son was born in January 1969.
It was only after I started doing family research that I discovered that Mrs Gair was in fact a sister of my Uncle Dan. Uncle Dan was married to my mother's sister, Christina, but strangely enough, I can never remember Aunty Christina and Uncle Dan ever visiting Mrs Gair.
Also, through my family research, I discovered that Mrs Gair's death was registered by Albert MacMillan, great nephew, Creraig, Hughton, Beauly.
I have also discovered that when Mrs Gair died, the house at 56a Ballifeary Road was left to Albert's mother, Dolina Paterson (MacMillan). Dolina Paterson was the illegitimate daughter of Jean Mackintosh, and Jean Mackintosh was in turn a sister to Mrs Gair, and also to my Uncle Dan.
I also have memories of visiting Dolina and her son Bert at the farm at Creraig.
Don't you just love family research.
