Appreciate some help please, as i'm struggling to decipher this. Would like to know William's birthplace and marriage places, also what is his occupation or is it just stating father?

His occupation is Ostler (a man employed to look after the horses of people staying at an inn).

It looks like Perigow Co(unt)y Fermanagh ireland (same place for birth); but I don't know if that exists. I think there is somewhere called Pettigo, but I can't make that fit the word on the document.

Thank you for the replies Richard and Carol, it is hard to say.

I should mention this is a Scottish record of his son James 1855 birth hence all the extra info. William had signed it with an X mark. The person recording the data was probably Scottish and not familiar with Irish place names so spelling potentially put down as was heard.

So do you think both the birth and marriage location are the same place?

The more i think about it the more i like the sound of Pettigo.

What is written down looks like Perigow which i reckon could quite easily have been heard as Pettigo.

Aye thanks, i'm fairly certain this is the family on the 1851 Census ( I haven't found it on ScotlandsPeople yet but FreeCEN have the surname transcribed as Miller whereas Ancestry have it transcribed as Milles ! )
