Surname query
« on: Friday 22 August 14 14:59 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone, I'm currently researching my family tree and the surname Foran is a regular occurrence. Does anyone know if this an English name as I'm told by one family member that it may be Irish??
Thanks

As both Doran and Moran are well known Irish surnames, I would think yours may be too.

But also do not discount Scotland.

Many Irish went to Scotland and vice versa.
Fleming (Bristol) Fowler/Brain (Battersea/Bristol)    Simpson (Fulham/Clapham)  Harrison (W.London, Fulham, Clapham)  Earl & Butler  (Dublin,New Ross: Ireland)  Humphrey (All over mainly London) Hill (Reigate, Bletchingly, Redhill: Surrey)
Sell (Herts/Essex/W. London)
