Tom Phillips born 22 April 1895 in Abersychan, Pontypool

Hi,  I am hoping that someone might have some inspiration regarding my search for Tom Phillips, born 22 April 1895 in Abersychan, Pontypool. 
He married Dora May Mason on 26th Dec. 1918 in Llandenny, Monmouthshire.  I can find no trace of him after this time.  His wife appears living in Hampstead, London,  between the years 1931 - 1954, but no trace of Tom.
Dora May died on 3rd August 1965 in Swansea.
I was told by a now deceased relative that Tom died in 1930/1, but have searched the GRO without success.
Has anyone got any ideas that might help my search.

Last child seems to have been born 1928.  What was Tom's occupation?  Was he a seaman?

I'm sorry Carole, I don't have his occupation.  I was given the marriage details and everything else by a distant family member, who is now deceased.
Have you found something that might be relevant?

When he married he was a Labourer - his father Alfred was a Well Sinker
