Absalom Gledson/Gladstone
« on: Saturday 30 August 14 03:04 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I am seeking any details for the marriage, and burial, if possible, of Absalom Gledson (b 1864 Bedlington, Northumberland) s/o George & Isabella Gledson. In 1922, in April, he emigrated to New Zealand, on the Shaw Savill Line "Iconic" for Wellington, NZ. On 22 May 1922 he departed Wellington for Sydney on "Moeraki" and was listed as "A. Gladstone" on the passenger list.

He appears to have married, after arriving in Australia, and died in Kuri Kuri, NSW in 1939. I would like to know the name of his wife and date of marriage.

His last known address in England was : Ellesmere Gardens, Stakeford, Northumberland. The surname is spelt as Gledson, Gladson and Gladstone at various times.

Thank you.

Hello Cando,

Thank you. That's excellent. I thought because of the various spellings of the surname, it might be difficult. Much appreciated. Regards.

Hello Muss,

Thanks for that. Is there any chance of finding out date and place of birth for Eliza Stormm? I have been checking on Ancestry but not having much luck. Only need these details to complete this line. Thanks.

Eliza's husband was possibly Charles Hansen STORMM and he died in 1897.

Eliza's possibly died in 1942 and was living at a different address on the electoral roll in 1937.

Her funeral notice

As late as 1951 it appears that rates were owing on a property owned by Absalom GLADSTONE

Have a search on TROVE for the notices

Her headstone at Stockton cemetery

There appears to be an error with her year of death on her headstone as this is the entry from the online NSW death index.
