Just wondering if anyone can help me with any information on Rev Robert James Wilkinson who we believe was an RAF Chaplain during WW2
Doesanyone have a copy of Crockford's ??
In 1953 he became vicar of Alveley Village in Shropshire and retired in 1969. He died in the Kidderminster area in March 1970
I enclose a photo, any help would be much appreciated

All RAF Chaplains are recorded in the Air Force List with seniority dates.

Taking a list in 1944 as a starting point.

http://digital.nls.uk/british-military-lists/pageturner.cfm?id=96426298

This suggests an appointment 12 March 1940. If you also look for his name in the index it gives a bit more, including a service/personal number.

Need to confirm that it your Rev but it does as a starter.

The Rev. Robert James Wilkinson joined the RAF on 12 March 1940. Like most RAF chaplains in WW2, he was a Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve Chaplain. His file number is A.61432/40. His personnel file lists that he was born on 8 June 1905 and that he was married when he joined the RAF. He was posted to RAF Manston on 12.3.40, RAF Northhold on 15.3.40, RAF Little Rissington on 18.12.40, and toRAF Middle East Command on 14.1.44.  He release from the RAFwas postponed from 1.2.45 to 15.2.45. He resigned from the RAF on 15 February 1945.
