DEATH OF ROBERT GOTTS.
An inquest was held at Scarborough on December 1st, by Mr. James Kirby, to inquire into the death of Robert Gotts, miner, who collapsed in the mine, 30th November, 1925. Matthew Brown, miner, brother in law of deceased deposed that the last time ho had seen his brother-in-law alive was at 8.15 a.m. 30th November. Gotts, who was born at Durham, England, and had lived in this State 14 years, was 46 years of age, and employed as a shot firer at the South Clifton Colliery.

The NSW Inquest gave his age as 46 years.

Robert had served in the Royal Navy and was awarded the 1900 China Medal for his service on HMS Centurion. His service record can be purchased (£3.30): http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D6749052

Robert Gotts married Sarah Brown, and his brother William Henry Gotts married her sister Mary Elizabeth Brown. Both of the Browns were second cousins to the Gotts brothers as their mother was an Elizabeth Gotts.
