OK, ;D So Merlin you mean in regard to the heading on  the thread, the 1905 birth was for John not Harold.  Without a reference or quote from you, I was at a loss for a moment.

Nellie Gertrude WANLESS was at least 21yo in 1903 as she appears on the ERoll with husband Thomas:

1903
Address: 6 Mc Donald St, Leichhardt
Nellie Gertrude WANLESS - Domestic Duties
Thomas WANLESS - Painter

From NSW BDM Aubrey Archibald WANLESS died in 1953 with parents Thomas and Nellie Gertrude at Ashfield.
Here are his death notices (which mention brother Harry).  http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article18361612your post to queries (instead of completed lookups :)  )

Probate notice http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/27525883 SMH 26 June, 1953  with family members including John Noel Wanless  as executors of the estate... but no mention of Harry.

Supporting the several earlier posts  re Harry's birthdate NOT being 1905

The Ryerson Index actually reads
"WANLESS   Harry G,
Death notice
23JUN1993,
Death,
Died on 70th Birthday
Sydney Morning Herald   03JUL1993"

Yes, it does make it clear Harold was born 1923.

Beryl would have been 16 or 17  then

Hello all,

Thank you for your assistance, and offer to photograph ros, but I think I have sufficient info to go through. The details I was given some years ago regarding the birth date were obviously incorrect. I am so grateful for all the effort and information that you have provided. Thank you. Regards.
