Prussian census records
« on: Tuesday 16 September 14 07:46 BST (UK) »
Hello

Does anyone know if census records or their equivalent exist for Prussia, specifically the Tworog, Silesia area from 1880 onwards. If so, how would I get access to them?

Regards

Roy

Some information here:
http://wiki-en.genealogy.net/Schlesien#Census
These are the archives mentioned as holding the records:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussian_Privy_State_Archives
How accessible they are and how useful for genealogists I don't know.

In case you weren't aware, Roman Catholic records for this area are online (but not name indexed, image sets only).
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/2114433
(find Tworog under Katowice - births up to 1901 and deaths up to 1928).
