Hi Smudwhisk,

You mention "and one of the parties was from SF", I don't know what you mean by that.

Regards.

I've seen the odd marriage entry on familysearch/IGI which lists a date and a parish but the marriage didn't take place in that parish.  However, subsequent research found the marriage and either the groom or bride were stated to have been resident in the parish which had been listed on the entry on familysearch.  So there can sometimes be a little truth in the submitted entry, just not entirely accurate. ;D

Hi Smudwhisk,

I've never come across SF before, I did wonder if it could mean Single Folk but didn't put much faith in that idea.

The reason you stated is interesting, I've just recently managed to identify the wife of my earliest known Adams ancestor William Adams.  It turned out he and his bride Sarah Pettet although married in Great Chesterford they were both of Saffron Walden.

Given me food for thought regarding the marriage of William Coote and Mary Ramshire.

Btw Jemima Coote also married an Adams ancestor, another William at Gt Waltham.

Sorry it was my shorthand for Saffron Walden. ;D ;D

Adams isn't exactly an uncommon name, I've a line in Weeley who originated in North Suffolk!

I think, after all's said and done, I'll put a check of Gt Chesterford on my to do list, I need to investigate that place anyway to see if William Adams and Sarah Pettet baptised children there.

Thanks for your help and confusing me.  ;D ;D

Morning Mark,

Thanks for that, I'll put that one in my notes, at this stage I can't really rule anything out.  :)

There are 8 children baptised to William and Martha Coot(e) in Castle Camps between 1758 and 1772 I'm afraid. :-\  The records have been transcribed by Cambridgeshire FHS.

Thanks for that info Smudwhisk, at least it makes a decision easy  ;D

There seems to be a prevailing pattern, as fast as I find a 'possible' for William and Mary Coote it gets knocked out, although I still have the two William and Sarah Coote 'possibles' intact for that part of the problem.  ;D
