Hello
William Oliver Latham was born 12/8/1875 in Dymchurch ,Kent and Joined the Royal Navy in Portsmouth on 12/8/1893 age 12. He served till his Discharge in Australia on 8 July 1911 and remained in Austraalia . His last ship was the armoured Carrier Euryalies on the Australia Station. On his records at the National Archives 159639---it says  at the bottom -Joined RYR then ?ons B 1865 9 July.
I was wondering if any one can tell what RYR stood for .
Many Thanks

Is it definately RYR and not RFR the latter would be Royal Fleet Reserve which would fit ?

Perhaps you could post that part of the image so that we can try to help interpret it?

I still maintain its old time writing and its RFR as in Royal Fleet Reserve.

Might "Euralies" be the armoured cruiser Euryalus which was the Royal Navy's flagship on the Australia station in 1904-5?

Shaun J you are correct there was no ship called "Euryalies".
Ady is also correct - definitely, without a doubt, RFR.
