Suicide by hanging.
« on: Tuesday 07 October 14 21:43 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find more information on Daniel Thomas who lived at 10 Cornwall road, williamstown, penygraig , Rhondda. he committed suicide on 15 th December 1907. Are there coroners reports available from that time?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Not sure, but you could try the local Newspapers for a report.
Good luck

How old was he when he committed suicide? Do you have the Death Cert?

An Uncle of mine committed suicide in Swansea in 1930. There was an Inquest, but the papers were destroyed in the 1970's. It was certainly reported in the press at the time though. If you give more details I will have another look for you.

Romilly.

Hi,

Have you contacted the county archives and asked if the Inquest file has survived?

Hi,
No I haven't , I understood that coroners reports were their property and were usually thrown away when the coroner retired.
I will email archives tomorrow.
Thanks for your advice

Good Luck!

I found an Inquest file from 1902 at the London Metropolitan Archives so not all were thrown away.   :)
