Hi again,
I am afraid the Balmain death was a red herring - however I have searched the Trove digitised newspaper entries and found an Obituary notice for Rachael Tucker. dated 13 August 1915.
Her death is recorded as happening on  2nd August that year.
It confirms that she was born 1853, in Constantine, Cornwall,  and married in 1875 to William Tucker.
More information confirms that they lived in New South Wales for 26 years, and lived in Western Australia for 12 years before she died. She died in Capel, near Bunbury in WA.
There is more information that could be valuable to you, including names of relatives, a Mr D Reid son in law.I have a pdf copy of the article. I will try to attach it in a pm.
The article mentions that she is survived by her husband William and 2 daughters and a son. I will see what else I can find.

The Ancestry tree just shows his parents.

The tree shows 4 children to William and Rachel:

William John b.1878 Sydney (birth index states 1877)
Lilly b.1880 Sydney
Robert Edward Lancelot b.1884 Waterloo, NSW, d.1907
Frederick Roland Thomas Henry b.1/11/1888 Marrickville, NSW - d.20/8/1962 Western Australia (married to Ethel Rosina Payne 1909 W.A.)

From Rachel's obituary sounds like there was another daughter.

No Annette,
That was my mistake. The Obit mentioned 2 sons and 1 daughter.
Son in law Mr D Reid.
I must be dyslexic and got it the wrong way round :)

Hey ... you guys have been busy whilst I'm sleeping the night away.

This morning I've been studying the Obit that Eileen supplied ... Oh what a picture it paints and I'm so grateful. My searches at WA BDM were horrible but then I found Cemetery records at http://www.ozburials.com/CemsWA/Capel/capel.htm which puts things in place. There are 16 Tuckers in this Cemetery which all could turn out to be descendants.

Apparently Lilly was Dave Reids 2nd wife and it still looks like no children to her although this looks like her "The Elgin School was opened in 1909 due to the efforts of Mrs D. B. Reid of 'Bridge farm'. Mrs Reid boarded the school teachers until 1924. During 1917 and 1918, Mr Reid rode to Stratham to get children to keep the school open. In 1936 the school closed when a school bus was introduced to take the children to Stratham."

I'll get back to you once I have gotten everything into the tree and I know just where I'm at.

Hello again,
I am trying to upload a copy of Rachael Tucker's Obituary for the benefit of other researchers.
I have also found mention of  "David Blair Reid Papers" on Google Books. The info reads...
"Diary of David Reid mainly describing the W.A. Goldfields 1894-1895. He was born in Brisbane 1875, left Sydney in 1894 at age 19 years and came to Albany where he travelled by train to the Goldfields. Married Lilly Tucker and had 5 children."
Apparently this is held in the State Library of Western Australia Hopefully link below,

Looks to me that John was illegitimate;

John TUCKER Baptised 23 July 1809, St. Sidwell and St. Gulval, Laneast, Cornwall
Mother ELIZTH. Tucker
(Source FreeREG)
(Cornwall OPC has same info with Mother as Elizth and Elizabeth, John a base child)

She also Baptised a THOMAS NORTHEY Tucker, 08 March 1807, and CATHERINE NORTHEY Tucker, 02 Oct 1803 same Church.
(FreeREG)
+ WILLIAM Tucker, 02 May 1813, Laneast (extra info, poor woman, residence Palmary*
(*no idea where/what this is)

1851 Census has a Thomas Tucker born c 1807 Laneast living in St Clether

Getting all this into the tree I came across a few points.
The 1810 place of birth for John Tucker I believe should be spelt "Laneast" as this is the only place that Google Earth can locate. KG also has it spelt this way on the 1861 census info.

1861 Census no longer finds:
Lusia .. She would have been 24 and probably married or a maid elsewhere.
Mary .. She would have been 20.
Martha .. She would have been 16.
Additional 2 births:
Emma .. age 7 b. Altarnun
Richard W .. age 5 b. Altarnun

1871 Census:
Richard W Tucker missing .. He would have been 15.
Johns wife Elizabeth has had a change of Birthplace mysteriously to Devon however I believe the earlier South Petherwin is correct as it is very close to Johns birth place of Laneast.

Thanks again for your efforts KG.

Annette it sounds as if your Ancestory tree may just be from a WA based descendant. I'm still trying to get my head around Rachels Obit. and relating it to the Capel Cemetery records. It appears that Lilly Tucker, Her husband David B Reid as well as their daughter Thelma are all in the same grave. Remember that it was the Reids and Tuckers that started the town of Capel in 1904.
Where did you find the 1899 marriage info for Lilly?? I have seen 1804 before this new find. 1899 makes more sense as Thelma was born in 1900.

You also have Robert Edward Tucker 1884-1907 His death would have been in Capel but is not found in the Capel Cemetery records. Could you take another look at this as records speak only of 3 children??

His birth dates fits in well too as there was 8 years between Lilly & Frederick.

Ahhh Grandies .... I can't wait to look into the diary of David Reid ... What a great find you super sleuth you!

This data is coming in so quickly I'm flat out trying to get it down and into my tree and now we have Trish finding this 1809 baptism. It looks correct so I have double checked it against the 5 census finds which reveal birthdate of 1809 through to 1811 ... I'll have to mark your find as a a hit Trish. Just what do you mean by "John a base child"?

Your other Tucker finds as yet do not fit into the picture but they may in the near future. Thank you ever so much.

Now to see if I have time to read through that Diary before reaching for my pillow for the night.

It's hard to express my appreciation to you all

Kindest regards, Rob
