Trade Direcrtories for Bonn in the 19thC?
« on: Tuesday 14 October 14 22:51 BST (UK) »
Hi again, Everyone,
A general query - but do trade directories exist for the 19thC in areas that have become modern-day Germany?  More particularly, would there have been any - and might they still exist anywhere - for Bonn in Germany?
Many thanks, Keith

Hi Keith,

there are trade directories for the 19thC in the areas and regions of Germany.

Bonn has been part of rhenish Prussia since 1815 (Rheinprovinz).

Adress directories for Bonn are starting 1856/57,
modern directories of house owners are starting 1804.
The books are digitized:

Rudolf,
Thanks SO much for putting those links on here.  Had no idea whether these records existed at all.  Will have a very good look through them all now...

Hi again, Rudolf,
Have struggled for some time (with the assistance of a friend who speaks a little German) with these lovely Bonn directories, but cannot seem to access them at all.  Do you have any (simple) instructions about how to end my frustration at not being able, yet, to look at the entries…!
