Indications are that Kathleen wasn't married (at least she wasn't up to 1962):
"LEEFE Marion Louise of 9 Maudland Road Blackpool spinster died 13 September 1962 at Wesham Park Hospital Wesham Lancashire Administration Lancaster 27 November to Kathleen Leefe spinster. Effects 1050 pounds."

Administration indicates that Marion had no Will and that Kathleen applied to the court for permission to sort out her belongings and assets. Not sure about English system at that time but in Northern Ireland that Record Office would have paperwork dealing with the administration. Often it's just boring (from a genealogical point of view) forms but there's usually one with blanks to be filled in stating the person was married/single/divorced, left no lawful spouse, X number of lawful children, etc. However, in this case it probably won't help.

Think Kathleen's death certificate really is your next step.

.....and furthering enquiries once you have the death certificate, if in fact she was cremated, then one can write to the crematoria or the County Council where the event took place, and this should be a snail mail as emails will be ignored or delayed in the most part; and events or other details may surface....  but do not place too much hope on that. Also it is a good idea to seek out newspapers around that place and see if there were any publication or notifications.

I agree totally with Carol that for all the time wasted until now for 10 pounds get the certificate, it will clarify matters.

The matters of adoption have been addressed, however , if possible you may be able to track the person through old phone books or alamacs or post office directories. ....  and maybe electoral rolls if you have access to local resources.
