Yes - a civilian casualty of the war:

Perhaps worth following up in case there was bigamy etc involved.

The two of them were there also 1934 - 1939.

Clara was there as early as 1922 with her husband Charles Doggett, who died in 1924.

On the probate the money was left to his wife Lucy Gibbons

The probate calendar don't tell us who was entitled to the estate on his intestacy, but administration was granted to "Lucy Gibbons, widow".  That does not necessarily mean that she was his widow - could be a widowed sister in law for example.  (Or his mother, or daughter in law etc).

There is a Mrs Lucy Gibbons with no other 'Gibbons' showing at 15 Felden Street, SW6 (Hammersmith & Fulham) in 1930 & 1933.  (There is also a Lucy Gibbons in Kensington in 1938  ::) )

You are right avm228 I should not have assumed she was his widow  :-[

It looks as though Clara was about 16 years older than Charles Frederick Gibbons.  It looks likely she died in Salisbury in September 1944 (home address being in Brook Green, Hammersmith).

She may have been entirely unconnected to CFG (other than as neighbours), if the property was divided into flats and they each occupied a flat.  The electoral rolls show that they each qualified to vote by residence and occupation.
