Hi and welcome to Rootschat, you are showing 2 different maiden names for the mother of Stanley eg Benstead and Hempstead, I think it should be the Benstead, as this looks to be his birth registration on Freebmd:-

Stanley C Scott Dec qtr 1926 Newmarket 3b 647 Mothers maiden name Benstead

Now comes the hard bit at present cannot locate any marriage of a Scott to a Benstead but will keep on trying for you, were your father and the Benstead's involved with horses particularly Race Horses, as I see a Stanley Benstead b June qtr 1903 Newmarket 3b 491 who has sisters Lucy or Lily 1890 Blanche and Ellen 1895 with father Christopher & Mary Ann in 1901 census, Christopher is involved with Race Horses.

EDIT just spotted a possible marriage but really not sure?

Mabel Lilian Benstead to Arthur James Scott Dec qtr 1908 Newmarket 3b 1139

HAve you got your Dads birth cert? Were his parents Arthur James and Mabel Lilian?

If so , Keyboard has found their marriage in the indexes. That means you can send for their marriage cert (online from www.gro.gov.uk) and that, hopefully, will give you an age at marriage, plus names and occupations of their fathers.
Hopefully that information will help you locate the correct family on the 1911 census, and then you (and we can help if you wish, just ask) can work back through the censuses tracing the family back.

Hi again, was your father the only child of the marriage?

That birth certificate would really help you to go further, even his marriage certificate should give his father's name and possible family witnesses?

Hi again, so would I be correct, you do not have his actual marriage certificate?

You need to get the actual certificates to find out the details you need to move on with your research.

So, if you havent got your Dads birth cert, that might be a good one to start with. If that proves his parents to be Mabel Lillian and Arthur James then their marriage would be the next one to get. As I said before, hopefully you will then have enough info to start using the censuses to work backwards from them.

Certificates can be ordered online from www.gro.gov.uk and cost £9.25 each.
