1911 census Lookup Please - Weavers Almshouses -Walstead
« on: Thursday 30 October 14 18:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

I am looking for JOHN THOMPSON on the 1911 Census.

In 1901 he was living the Weavers Almshouses in Walstead Essex.
Prior to that he was in Bethnal Green (1871-1881-1891 census)
He was born 1831 in Leek Staffordshire.
So he'd be 80+- on the 1911.

Thank you for the hand up
Susan

Thanks Jan57 & Nanny Jan

I am the proud owner of two death certificates so far for John Thompson, and neither one is my guy.

So, before I invest again I am trying to figure out if he was still alive in 1911.

He always listed his place of birth (Leek Staffordshire) and occupation (silk weaver) and never changed them. And even his birth year of 1831 or equivalent age have been consistent.

so if I can a John fitting these on the 1911 or somewhere then it would make it easier to narrow down when he died.
I am not even sure if he died in Wanstead at the Almshouse or not.
I have tried to find info on the Weaver Almshouses but have come up empty there too.

Thanks again

What "registration district" & "death sub district" is/was WANSTEAD circa 1910?

Hi All

If someone died in the Weaver's Almhouses in Wanstead circa 1902-1915 what district should I be looking at in the death registrations for the County of Essex  :-\

I am trying to determine possible candidates for my 3x G Grandfather John Thompson...but with such a common name I am having trouble locating him.

Thanks

The 1901 entry shows it was in the Registration district of West Ham.  I have already checked and the only death in that RD between 1901-1911 was George J Thomson (no P) b 1832 who I have traced back to the 1901
