There are several reports of his death in the Ceylon Observer.

The Ceylon Observer in April 1919 confirmed "the death of A.J.Thomas, the well-known planter, at Pallai (where we understand he was residing for a change) - according to a wire to his brother A.H.Thomas on Friday (21st)."

Richard...hi
This is probably too late a reply; anyway, my gt gt grandfather, William Edward Bevan Gwyn, was almost certainly in partnership with your other Uncle Aneurin Howel Thomas and together both owned a plantation in Dimbula Ceylon from 1870-1883. They named it 'Cymru'! I have also come across a rather sad newspaper article detailing your gt gt Uncle Aneurin's divorce but which does give some insight into the times.
Best wishes Allen
