SINKMAJER Jozef
« on: Friday 07 November 14 14:14 GMT (UK) »
Am researching Fr. Jozef (Joseph) Sinkmajer. Was born in Bohemia on March 20, 1866. Went to seminary in Prague. Came to US in 1890 to finish education at seminary in Wisconsin. Believe he traveled back to Bohemia in 1897 to visit. Wondering if there is census available or any leads on seminaries of that time? Thank you in advance.

According to
 http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM8DT1_Arcibiskup_prask_Archbishop_of_Prague_Archbishops_Seminary_Prague_CZ
the address of Archbishop's Seminary in Prague is:

Arcibiskupský seminář
Univerzita Karlova v Praze
Thákurova 676/3
16000 Praha 6
Czech Republic

I would recommend writing to the Rector of the seminary as a starting point.  I don't know what records would survive because I believe that the seminary had to relocate away from Prague during Communist rule - it is possible that records were lost during this period or destroyed in the war.

Good hunting
Philip
