Eva Jane Spratt 1877-1930 Lookup Request

Hi Everyone
I am currently researching Eva Jane Spratt who married my Great Grand Uncle, Alexander Houston and later married his brother Daniel Houston after Alex had died.  According to the Census Eva was born in St Helier and in 1881 was living at Somerset Cottage, Providence Street, St Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands.  In 1891 and 1901 she was living at 7 Providence Street, St Heliers, Jersey, Channel Islands.  In the 1901 census she has two children, Charles and Eva.  Other family tree research indicate these children were fathered by a Walter Mullet serving at Fort Regent Barracks.  I am looking for confirmation of this fact and if Eva ever married Walter.  Any help would be much appreciated.

What surname do the children have?

Is she down as a single woman on the census and, more importantly, is she down as a spinster when she marries your relative?

Found the census now and the 2 children are down as nephew and niece (not grandson and granddaughter) so on the face of it they appear to not belong to Eva Jane. 

The boy is 7 and Eva 23 so I would look for another married daughter first as that seems the most likely based on census evidence

Sorry not a married daughter that would still make them grandchildren 

I mean a married sister of mother or father to make them niece and nephew.  Think that's what I mean.

Eva age 10 is a niece again in Hampshire with Smith family * so she wasn't brought up by Eva Jane.

I guess her birth cert would confirm who her mother was. 

* In 1891 the Smith family have 3 Spratts living with them so the link is there.
